Search Pulse/Walkthrough

Walkthrough · Search Pulse

Your client ranks. So where are the clicks going?

The client's own Search Console, read for the dates you pick, with every leak explained and the fix already written. Send the client the report, and next month's pulse shows what came back.

The whole walk · seven stops

Seven stops, from the client's Search Console to a report you send every month

Here's the walk, in the order you'll do it.

1. Open Search Pulse
it's in the sidebar, under Intelligence
2. Connect Search Console
one click; pick the property
3. Pick the dates and run it
one click; the page fills in
4. See where clicks are leaking
five numbers and the pages losing
5. Open a finding
the cause, and the fix written for you
6. See what to write next
and which pages fight each other
7. Send the report, repeat monthly
white-label; next month picks up here

The client's traffic is down. The rankings haven't moved.

Here's where to find out why.

Step 1 · Open Search Pulse

It's in the sidebar, under Intelligence

Pick the client you're working on. Then open Intelligence in the left sidebar and click Search Pulse. The Search Console connection is the first card. Under it, the pulse and everything it finds.

What's different here
The client's own numbers
clicks, impressions and positions from their Search Console, over the window you choose, not a third-party estimate.
One cause, with receipts
every finding is diagnosed to exactly one cause, with the evidence line by line and the fix already written.
It runs every month
the next window starts where the last one ended, so the recoveries land on the record the client sees.

First, you connect the client's Search Console.

One click, read-only. Nothing is ever written to it.

Step 2 · Connect Search Console

Connect the client's Search Console in one click, then pick their property

Click Connect this client and approve read-only access on the Google account your agency already uses. Pick the client's property from the list and click Use this property. Nothing is ever written to their Search Console. The same connection also powers Traffic Pulse for this client.

Search Console connectionthis client only
Connect the Google account that has Search Console access to your clients' sites. Read-only. Nothing is written to their Search Console, and disconnecting removes the stored credential.

Connectedsc-domain:bellhavenbuild.com · read-only
Good to know before you connect
Read-only, always
the connection reads performance data and nothing else; nothing is ever written to the client's Search Console
One property per kit
the client's kit maps to one Search Console property, so their pulse only ever reads their site
The agency's account, not the client's
connect the Google account your agency already uses for client Search Console access — the standard setup
Covers Traffic Pulse too
the same kit-scoped connection serves the Traffic Pulse on this client; one consent, both pulses
Disconnect removes it
disconnecting deletes the stored credential for this client entirely

Then you pick the dates, and run the pulse.

One click. A few minutes later the page is full.

Step 3 · Pick the dates and run it

Pick the dates, click Run Pulse, and the page fills in

Two date fields, From and To. They're already set to pick up where your last pulse ended, or the last ninety days for a first look. Change them if you like. Click Run Pulse. One click, no confirm. A few minutes later, everything below is filled in, and every number says which dates it covers.

Then the page shows you where the clicks are leaking.

Five numbers, one bar per page, and what's growing.

Step 4 · See where clicks are leaking

Five numbers tell you where the client is losing clicks, and what's growing

Click gaps are pages that rank well but don't get clicked. Decaying pages are quietly losing clicks. AI Overviews caught. Clicks left on the table. Pages fighting each other. Under the numbers, one bar per page, sized by the clicks it's losing. Then the good news: the searches gaining clicks. And the Scan, which lists every page and search that was read, so the client can see the work.

You open a finding, and the fix is already written.

Step 5 · Open a finding

Open a finding and get the cause, the evidence, and the fix written for you

Each finding is a card. It names one cause, shows the numbers behind it, and lists the fixes in order. For a page that ranks but doesn't get clicked, it writes three new titles and three descriptions you can paste in. Beside it, a photo of the actual Google results page, with the date it was taken.

Position 4.2 should earn about 6.8% of clicks; the page earns 1.3%. The title reads “Services — Bellhaven” against three competitors whose titles name the service, the timeline and a price promise. Impressions held across the window, so the loss is at the click, not the rank. The AI Overview on this results page names two of those competitors, not the client.

Step 6 · See what to write next

Know what to write next, and which of the client's pages are fighting each other

Search Term Depth looks at every search the client shows up for and says what to do. A search they rank deep for needs a new page. A search they rank on page one for but don't win needs a stronger section on the page they already have. Each one comes with the recipe. The Rivalry Check finds two of the client's own pages competing for the same search, and names the one to keep.

Click Client Report. Tick the chapters you want, then Save as PDF and send it. The last page is the recommended actions, so you can send it as the proposal or leave it off. Next month, the dates pick up where this pulse ended, and the report shows what came back.

Over the window the site held its rankings and lost its clicks. Four pages rank on page one and earn a fraction of the clicks that position should bring; three pages are quietly decaying, two of them under an AI Overview that answers the question they were written for. About three hundred and ten clicks were left on the table. The fixes are written; the first four ship in an afternoon.

Good to know
  • The numbers come from the client's own Search Console and hold still. The photos of Google results change hour to hour, so each one carries the time it was taken.
  • Google hides rarely-searched terms for privacy. The Scan shows everything Google reports, which is less than everything that exists.
  • Read-only, always. Nothing is ever written to the client's Search Console, and disconnecting removes the credential.
  • A clean bill is a real result. A pulse with no findings means nothing is measurably leaking, and the report says so.
  • Every figure on this page is drawn for a fictional client. The real page fills with the client's own Search Console.
The walk loops — next month's window starts where this one ended, and the report opens with what came back.
